YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE
This year has been incredible so far. I can’t begin to explain some of the amazing things that have happened. Like. I’m so appreciative and super excited for what ever comes next. Sometimes it’s the little things that get me happy and on this day, it was my hair. Random, yeah? Not exactly.
For years I treated my hair like crap. I’d leave weaves in for longer than I should, I’d let the African mothers in Harlem braid my hair so tight it would break in the front. What was conditioner? What were ‘protective styles’? My edges were in shambles, what did I know? This story has a happy ending though – with help from a friend, I finally decided get my life together. I started seeing the most amazing hair stylist – Ayten of Ayten Farrel salon. We drafted a regimen to get my hair healthy again. It required something similar to a big chop because, shocker, my hair was mess of split ends and tangled misery. Ha. But here we are today, a little over a year later, whole life on fleek.
Now to the fashionnn. To copy fellow blogger, Igee Okafor‘s term, this was my ‘No-Chella’ outfit. God knows I won’t actually wear white pants to an outdoor festival. But in an ideal world, this would be a festival go-to look! It’s so bright and ‘happy’- I mean white and yellow, hello? This beautiful embroidered fabric I’ve also worn here, and the flash tattoos (still a thing?), add a little extra ummph to the get up. Special shout out to Fatima (shoppingaddict27 on Youtube) for the photos! And Dozie and Odinma for keeping us company/being our ‘cheerleaders’ lol. Fun times.
