WALT DISNEY WORLD, ORLANDO
Walt Disney World was the best packaged experience I’ve had in the US. I was there with PwC as a wrap up of my internship. From my arrival at the resort, the Grand Floridian, I felt like I was in a different world, truly. There were Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwiches set out for us to snack on. We received customized arm bands that granted us fast pass access to the rides at the different kingdoms and access to our rooms, where I found my towels set up in the form of Mickey’s face. It was pretty cool. The resort itself was gorgeous – white paneled wood exteriors against the Orlando sunshine made the buildings look so glorious. My balcony overlooked the lake and this was maybe my favorite thing about my stay at the resort. I absolutely love the idea of living by the water and sometime in the future, I’ll own a few beach houses for that reason. The only thing I’ll say I was taken aback by at the resort was the fact that a bag of chips (the small size Lays) cost $6 ! Haha.
PwC put together a great schedule that had me in a team of eleven other interns, cooking, solving puzzles, hunting down pirates and generally having a good time. I officially turned 21 on my second day at Disney and it was cool that the MCs acknowledged that and gave me a box of little rice krispie cakes. Later at night I went out to a bar on the Boardwalk called Jellyrolls. It was a $12 cover and there were two men playing sing-along song requests on the pianos on stage. This was the night I saw for real how excited some Americans get about the 21st birthday. People I only just met bought me drinks, my friends bought me drinks, the bartender gave me a free round, it was great.
Other highlights of the trip for me were the Hollywood Tower and Rock n Roller Coaster rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The light and firework display at Epcot was also a highlight.
I had a fantastic three days at Disney. It definitely was an experience worth having. That being said, the next time I’m here probably won’t be until I have kids, but we’ll see.
Back to New York now though, and senior year is soon to kick off!
